| "THIS IS A BULLET FROM A GUN CALLED 'WHAT THE FUCK?'"
This weekend Sarah gets here, and I am excited. But Michael is leaving forever, and that's going to be a downer for sure. It'll all be pretty bittersweet I think... getting some much-needed quality time with Sarah, and then saying goodbye to the two people I'm closest to on the same exact day... Memorial Day. The day Sarah heads back to NYC and Michael heads back to Saginaw.
All in all, Michigan has been a good state to me I think. :) (Sarah is from Detroit.)
Oh, and I got cast in "HMS Pinafore" at Theatre in the Round, and so did Dan Aubin. We're both in the chorus of sailors. I'm giving up a role in Sound of Music to do it because I think it'll be so much fun. Plus I can ride my bike (my new bike) to the theatre, which is excellent.
Cannedy out, biotches.

| "... AND THEY ARE PATRIOTS."
The West Wing series finale aired tonight, and even though I'm not watching it until it comes out on DVD, I'm surprisingly lugubrious about the whole thing.
This show is seriously one of the best on television (the best, if you ask me...). Its smart dialogue with thoughtful consideration of personal politics are what appealed to me I think, but and there's something to be said about a show that can make the most mundane public policy debates interesting. I'm willing to admit that the show has made me tear up more than once. It just embodies what I love about America, and what I'm hopeful for... usually when my eyes get a little wet, it's when I'm at my most hopeful and optimistic about the world.
That optimism is fleeting, I'll admit. It only takes a visit to Google News to be reminded that "The West Wing" world is not where we live. It's easy to get caught up in the world we wish for while doing nothing about the world we live in. I'd like to think that doesn't happen to me, but I know it has and will again in the future... human nature I think.
I signed up to volunteer for Amy Klobuchar's campaign, and I think after this summer I'll take some time off from plays so I can seriously volunteer on a weekly basis, probably for more than one campaign. There's a lot of work to be done, and I want to be a part of it.
Who'd have thought a TV show would cause me to ramble on like this? Certainly not me. But I just can't sit and wait for the world I wish for without doing something about it...
Decisions are made by those who show up.

| "HABEN SIE GEHĂ–RT DAS DEUTSCHE BAND?"
I got cast as Herr Zeller in "The Sound of Music" at Mounds View Community Theatre.
I should rent the movie, because I have no idea what that role is...
Or if I'm going to do it. I have a feeling that the H.M.S. Pinafore might be calling me too... but I won't know until next week. I'd like to do "Pinafore" more than "The Sound of Music," I'll admit.
------- EDIT -------
I got a new bike. Mine has a basket:

I love it. :)
